Our Financial Inclusion Service – here for you

Money worries are no good for your mental health. Many people are facing a change in their circumstances right now – perhaps facing a drop in income or having to apply for Universal Credit for the first time.
Our friendly, approachable Financial Inclusion Team can help. They are Debbie Mzee, Welfare Benefits Officer, and Barry Wood, Financial Inclusion Worker.
Debbie says: “The Benefits System can be tricky to negotiate. We’re seeing a huge increase in the numbers of people both applying for Universal Credit for the first time, and being referred to the Financial Inclusion Service. But don’t worry – we’re here, and we will get back to you.”
What does this Financial Inclusion advice entail?
Barry says: “We can identify if there could be additional benefits that you could be entitled to, as well as helping you with filling out applications.
We can go through your income and expenditure with you in confidence and make suggestions as to where you could save money, as well as giving you tips on budgeting better. We also can suggest ways/places where you can get cheaper deals.
We can also refer you if necessary to CAB or onto a specialist advisor such as Changeworks, who can help with Gas or electricity debt as well as giving you advice on how to use your heating system efficiently.”
If you would like some help from the Financial Inclusion Service, just call 01750 724444 and ask to speak to one of the team, or email financialinclusionservices@sbha.org.uk #hereforyou
