Grounds maintenence

Our Grounds maintenance contractor provides a service in the Spring and Summer months including grass cutting, hedge trimming and maintenance of shrub beds.

Some of these work are dependent on the weather conditions. In times of heavy rain or soft ground some of the work will not be carried out at that time.

In Autumn/ Winter the following services are carried out:

Communal works

We carry out a programme of cyclical works to maintain and improve our properties and neighbourhoods.

External and communal painting

We have a dedicated contractor to run a cyclical painting programme to our properties. This is to maintain your property and help keep it in good condition. This financial year 2024/25 we are in the Jedburgh area. Please refer to the programme of works to see the anticipated dates and the properties included this year.

Our contractor will contact you to advise you of the anticipated start dates and any other relevant information.

A walkover will be carried out by the Contractor and your local Property Officer prior to work commencing, this is to identify any faults or issues that require repair before painting and decorating commences.

The contractor will carry out regular inspections during the works to ensure they are completed to a good standard.

Once the painting has been completed your Neighbourhood Property Officer will attend alongside the contractor to confirm the work has been completed and in good order.

Following completion, we will ask you for your feedback to ensure that our tenants are satisfied with the improvements to your home.

Roads, footpaths and walls

SBHA have a responsibility for maintenance of walls and footpaths in our communities where we have ownership. However, Scottish Borders Council and Private Owner Occupiers may also have ownership or a shared responsibility.

Where there is joint ownership, we need to agree costings with owners before works can proceed. In some cases, where there is joint ownership SBHA will pay our contribution, but we may not lead on taking the project forward.
