Serious Play for Serious Change
Socialudo!
Earlier this week, SBHA was delighted to be part of an inspiring session at Hawick High School with Leighann from Developing the Young Workforce – Borders – celebrating creativity, learning and social impact.
Former pupil Professor Vikki McCall from the University of Stirling and Co‑founder of Socialudo returned to the school to lead an engaging session on “serious play for serious change”, supported by Susan and Louise from SBHA, and Kirsty from South of Scotland Enterprise.
Senior pupils were introduced to innovative games that use fun, teamwork and strategy to explore real‑world social challenges. One highlight was Social Deal!
— a fantastic resource that helps young people think differently about entrepreneurship for social good, showing how businesses can create positive change as well as profit. The other ‘game’ was about the stark reality of navigating the homelessness and housing system, alongside community and partner organisations – created in partnership with Social Bite!
We’re proud to support opportunities like this that inspire young people to explore new ideas, build confidence and see their potential to shape the future. A huge thank you to Professor McCall, Stacey Grieve from HHS, and partners for giving their time and expertise — a great example of how collaboration can open doors and spark ambition.
