SBTO’s AGM

SBTO held its second online AGM on the 26th October. The AGM was attended by SBTO members plus colleagues from the SBHA leadership team. SBTO members were delighted that Robin Hill, Chair of SBHA, was able to join them. He gave a motivational speech about the future of SBHA and SBTO and the importance of working together.

Our grateful thanks to outgoing Joint Chair Tracey Glover, who stood down as she has been elected on to the Board of Management at SBHA’s AGM on the 8th September this year. Chair Dominic Brookes said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Tracey for her time as Joint Chair and I wish her luck in her new role on the Board of Management. Thanks also to Lyn Williams in her role as Joint Vice Chair and I wish her all the best for her future.”

All members of SBTO were re-elected and office-bearers were confirmed as:

  • Treasurer – Doris Charlton
  • Joint Vice-Chair – David Elder

We would like to say a special thank you to the SBTO members who stood down during the year:

  • Ralph Nichol
  • Margaret Tills
  • Angela Sulo – who has now become an Honorary Member of SBTO
  • Lyn Williams – who has also stepped down as Joint Vice Chair

We also welcomed new SBTO Member Tiffany Ward from Langlee.

Attendees enjoyed a review of year 2020-21 short film, and Dominic presented on future initiatives for SBTO and plans for engagement.  He told attendees: “This year, we’ve continued to see our activities curtailed due to restrictions caused by Covid. However, we were successful in recruiting Louise McNeilage as Tenant & Community Engagement Facilitator and are grateful for the TEC Team standing in during the interim, in what is a very challenging role. We also recruited an Intern to carry out a Scrutiny project on complaints handling over the summer months. Kirsty Westbury proved a very valuable member during her time with us and was successful, with TEC team support, in providing an excellent report and I would like to wish her every success in her endeavours at university and in the future.”

Dominic continued: “As with previous Scrutiny projects, carried out with the support of our student Tenant Participation Assistants, this continues to have a positive impact on services. SBTO also continue to consult on SBHA policies and strategies providing invaluable and hopefully, appreciated feedback. Plus, we are helping to create some great campaigns such as the recent Health & Safety campaign.”
