SBTO Gardening Competition – results announced!
Thank you to everyone who entered SBTO’s Garden Competition this year.
The number and quality of entries this year was truly exceptional, but after much discussion the judges have made their choices, and the results are in!
The winner of the SBTO Gardening Competition 2021, who receives a £50 voucher along with the Eric Kelly Memorial trophy is Liam Scott from Hawick! The judges thought that brilliant use had been made here of the space (front and back), with very creative and unique features and food growing too. There’s lots going on and significant effort has gone into this garden to make it a nice place to sit and relax.
First runner up, and winner of the £50 voucher prize for Best Container Garden is Tony Burton in St Boswells!!
The judges loved all the bright and colourful flowers nicely displayed in pots, and the good use made of different heights in this garden. They were also very impressed by the joint effort by Tony and daughter Wendy to restore Bill and Ben!
Our second runners-up, and winners of the £50 prize for Best Window Box are Irina Snegova & Aleksanders Fomins in Langlee!
Judges thought that brilliant use had been made here of the small balcony space, with bright and beautiful flowers. They also liked the sunflower!
And this year the judges decided to award a special prize of ‘Best Amenity Garden to acknowledge the efforts of residents at Hazeldean in Galashiels. Lovely floral displays complementing the curve of the balcony area, with a nice area for residents and guests to sit in the sun.
Huge congratulations to all of our winners!
