Resident Consultation – St Boswells
Proposed community growing space at Orchard Park, St Boswells.
Green St Boswells is seeking your views on a proposal for a small community growing space at Orchard Park (please see the map below).
Green St Boswells has been successful in receiving grant funding from the Scottish Borders Council Neighbourhood Support Fund. A group of local people are seeking to convert a small area of an amenity grassed area in Orchard Park, owned by Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA), into a communal space for growing flowers, fruit and vegetables. The intention is to create a social space where local residents can meet, while growing fresh produce, as a way of tackling social isolation. The garden would have level access and would have height accessible planters for ease of use. Please see the proposed layout below.
This proposed project is part of a wider initiative for St Boswells village, with ideas for wildlife friendly spaces and increased biodiversity opportunities in Springfield Terrace and other open areas around the village. These projects would be managed jointly by the Community Council Sub-group, Green St Boswells, and local residents to ensure the areas are maintained over the longer term.
We are very keen to hear from St Boswells residents and are looking for your thoughts about the proposed community growing space at Orchard Park. We will be putting paper surveys through doors near to the proposed site soon. You can complete the survey online here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/YSBEAE/ or by scanning the QR code below.
