Hawick High School – Work Experience Week 2025
SBHA is delighted to host three Hawick High School students for work experience this week!
Please meet Abbie, Danny and Gosia. Abbie will be working primarily in the HR team, Danny with our plumbers, and Gosia in Tenant and Community Engagement.
“My name is Abbie, I’m 17 and an S6 student at Hawick High School. In school my interests are Admin and IT, Business Management and English. I have completed 5 National 5s and 3 Highers so far, this year I am in the middle of 2 more Highers and also attending college one day a week for psychology. On top of this I’m participating in the LEAPS Transitions Course, so am traveling to Edinburgh every second Thursday to learn skills needed to study at university. After I leave school, I am very interested in going into an admin related job as it is something I feel passionate about and interested in. For this reason, I have chosen to spend my work experience with SBHA as I feel they will be able to introduce me to what is required to work in an admin area. At the end of the week, I hope to have learned skills I can take with me in future. Outside of school I love to socialise with my friends, I am learning to drive and have a part time job.”
“I’m Danny, in S6 at Hawick High School and part of the Head Team. I enjoy Metalwork, English, Applications of Maths and Business Studies. When I leave school, I would like to be a plumber. I chose to come to SBHA because I wanted to try somewhere new and get more plumbing experience after half a week of work experience last year. Out of school, my hobbies include golf and playing the guitar. I am looking forward to a busy week at SBHA!”
“My name is Gosia, I’m a student in my sixth year at Hawick High School. Currently, I am studying English, French and Modern Studies at Advanced Higher level as well as Spanish at Higher. I am passionate about languages and linguistics as well as working with people and travel. After finishing school, my plan is to go to university, where I hope to further develop my interests and skills. My hobbies include reading, going out with friends, writing, and playing video games. I am ambitious, always willing to learn and very excited to experience a professional work environment during my Work Experience Week at SBHA!
I am originally from Poland, and I wanted to translate my introduction for Polish speakers:
Mam na imię Gosia, jestem studentką szóstej klasy liceum Hawick High School. Obecnie uczę się języka angielskiego, francuskiego, hiszpańskiego oraz ‘Modern Studies’. Interesuję się językami obcymi, lingwistyką oraz pracą z ludźmi i podróżą. Po ukończeniu szkoły planuję iść na studia, aby dalej rozwijać swoje zainteresowania i umiejętności. W czasie wolnym lubię czytać, spotykać się z przyjaciółmi, pisać oraz grać w gry komputerowe. Jestem ambitna, zawsze chętna do nauki i naprawdę nie mogę się doczekać, aby doświadczyć profesjonalnego środowiska pracy podczas tygodnia ‘Work Experience’ pracując w SBHA!”
