Could you be an SBHA Board member?
Are you an SBHA Tenant? Are you passionate about housing and communities? Are you interested in a unique opportunity to help direct and monitor the work of SBHA?
We are looking for Tenants to join SBHA’s Board, who will play a key role in the most senior governing body of SBHA.
The voices of our Tenants and customers are key to everything that we do. We cannot achieve our mission without the views of Tenants helping to shape decisions at every level.
We are looking for people who are committed to customer service excellence, raising standards and continuous improvement. Experience of working on a Board is not required, however you’ll need to demonstrate that you share our values and have the right skills or can develop them with our support.
The skills you will need include the ability to:
- think strategically. We need you to contribute to setting SBHA’s overall vision and strategic direction
- analyse and monitor SBHA’s use of resources, financial or otherwise, ensuring best value for our Tenants and customers
- ensure that SBHA is accountable to its Tenants, communities and stakeholders, as well as investors and the Scottish Housing Regulator
- work as a team with other Board Members, offering constructive feedback to the Executive Team
- uphold principles of good governance and ethics as represented by our Code of Conduct
- fulfil the responsibilities of a Board Member in a regulated environment including any requirement to be a “fit and proper person”.
In return, we offer an opportunity to develop your skills and experience, with access to training and networking opportunities, while working with a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation committed to enhancing lives and communities.
The Board meets once a quarter, for approximately 2 hours each time. You will be able to claim reasonable expenses for costs relating to your fulfilment of the position.
We believe having a diverse Board with members of all backgrounds will help us make better decisions. We are committed to promoting inclusivity in terms of our membership, with regard to all nine protected characteristics (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation), and we encourage all Tenants to apply.
Could this be you? For more information and to arrange an informal chat, please get in touch with us on 01750 724444, or email board@sbha.org.uk
