An update on our new homes in Howdenburn!

We’ve been on-site with Cruden Homes since September 2024, and the progress has been fantastic! A total of 70 new homes are coming to the former Howdenburn Primary School site, with the first ready for move-in by late 2025 and completion set for summer 2026.

We’re honoring Jedburgh’s heritage… The Community Council has played a key role in selecting street names for the development, which will include Capon Gardens, Capon Court, and Capon Drive – paying tribute to one of the oldest trees in the Jed Forest.

Interested? Who Can Apply? Anyone!

SBHA homes are allocated based on housing need, not where you live or work -so Jedburgh residents are absolutely welcome to apply. Our fair and transparent policy prioritizes those in greatest need, considering factors like homelessness, health, and overcrowding. Homes go to applicants with the highest points who best match the property type. Learn more about our Alocations Policy here.

And stay tuned for more updates!
