Coronavirus and your income

We are getting a lot of messages and calls at the moment from people worried about their income and paying their rent because of coronavirus, because they are unwell, self-isolating or otherwise unable to work. We understand that this is a very worrying time, and we would like to reassure you that we are ready to do our very best to help.

If your income has dropped, you should apply for Universal Credit (UC) as soon as possible, and let your Neighbourhood Housing Officer know. If you have any concerns or would like some help with the process of applying for UC, our dedicated, knowledgeable people can help you get access to all the benefits you are entitled to. Please give us a call on 01750 724444.

If you are already receiving benefits, the Department of Work and Pensions is continually providing updates. See https://www.understandinguniversalcredit.gov.uk/coronavirus/ for changes to restrictions around benefits payments.

This week and next are both rent-free weeks for Tenants not in arrears.
After the rent-free weeks, if your income has not been affected by coronavirus you should continue to pay your rent as normal for the time being. You can pay via the Allpay app (go to https://www.allpayments.net/Allpayments/Signup.aspx), by using the MySBHA Customer App (download at the App Store or Google Play), or by calling us at 01750 724444.
