SBHA takes a stand against domestic abuse

SBHA is proud to announce today that we are taking a stand against domestic abuse.

We have pledged our support to a campaign by the Chartered Institute for Housing, Women’s Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance, to take action to support those suffering from domestic abuse.

One in four women will become a victim of domestic abuse in their lifetime and two women die each week at the hands of a partner or ex-partner. Men also suffer, and it is likely that the number of male victim is much higher than is reported.

Our pledge to the make a Stand campaign is fourfold:

Firstly, we pledge put in place and embed a policy to support residents who are affected by domestic abuse.

Secondly, we commit to making information from national and local domestic abuse support services available on our website, social media and offices, to help ensure that residents and staff members are able to access this information easily.

Thirdly, we will put in place an HR policy which supports members of staff who may be experiencing domestic abuse.

Lastly, we will appoint a champion at senior level to own the activity we taking part in to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

We pledge to have all of these measures in place by September 2019.
