Making it easier to get a home – our new Allocations Policy

Our thanks to the Tenant Working Group, SBTO and all the Tenants who came along to our Roadshows to help us look at how we let homes. They made recommendations on creating easier ways for an applicant to get a home with us.

We are now thrilled to announce the launch of our revised Allocations Policy. The changes to the Policy come into effect in May 2019 and include:-

  • If you are in the Armed Forces, you will now be given priority for one year before discharge date, plus one year after. This means our families leaving the armed forces have more time to apply and secure housing prior to leaving the force.
  • Good news for people over the age of 50 as this is the newly reduced age limit for applications to amenity housing.
  • Under-occupying your home? Now you will have additional points, making it much easier to downsize if you wish.
  • If you need to move to a specific area to receive care or support, for employment or education or if you need to move to a larger home to become a foster carer or kinship parent, you will now be given additional points to make this easier.
