SBHA supported the Borders Book Festival this year, for the third year running. The sponsorship forms part of our support and promotion of the Year of the Young Person 2018, as well as being part of our ongoing commitment to support young people in our communities in the Borders.

The Family Festival took place over Saturday and Sunday, 16th-17th June, and featured a host of fun literary events for all the family. We were delighted to be able to send some of our Tenant families along for a day out at the festival, to enjoy a day of book-related activities.

One Tenant told us: “We had a fantastic afternoon. We saw the fantastic mobile vintage cinema and were able to watch a film on board. The show was very entertaining and my kids loved it We are already planning to go next year. Thank you – we all enjoyed ourselves.”

Another said: “My two children and I had a fantastic day out at the book festival. Staff were wonderful and helped us find our venue tents. My daughter (6) wants to be a writer and my son (2) want to be a robot! The food was wonderful and the rain did not spoil the day at all. Thank you very much for the day. It’s the first time we’re been and hopefully we can return next year.”

Previously SBHA has sponsored the Family Book Festival, and this year we sponsored the Schools Gala Day which was unfortunately postponed due to severe weather conditions. We are looking forward to working with the Borders Book Festival to reschedule the Gala Day in the very near future – watch this space!
